Capable Hearing Solutions is able to offer diagnostic hearing assessments.

Adults (private clients only)

Capable Hearing Solutions is able to test and fit hearing aids to adults who are privately funded.

Capable Hearing Solutions practitioners do not receive commissions for their services, so you can trust that our recommendations are the best ones for your needs.

Capable Hearing Solutions is not currently able to offer services under the Hearing Services Program. If you are on a pension card then you would be best served by seeing an Audiologist who is registered under the HSP scheme.

Children

In order to test your child’s hearing, a number of different assessments will be done. The choice and number of tests done is dependent on your child’s age and cognitive ability.

Capable Hearing Solutions can assess children from 12 months of age and older.

Targeted Testing

Only audiologists can diagnose auditory processing disorder. We specialise in diagnosing APD using a specific group of listening tests. We have the tools and skills to test children from as young as 3 1/2.

Central Auditory
Processing Disorder

Individuals with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (also called Auditory Processing Disorder) have normal hearing thresholds (abilities). Still, mechanisms in the pathway from the ear to the part of the brain that processes sound are impaired.

Auditory Processing includes mechanisms that preserve, refine, analyse, modify, and interpret information from auditory information. When there is a breakdown in one or more mechanisms along this pathway, the result is a central auditory processing disorder.

These mechanisms underlie the following skills: Decoding, Auditory discrimination, Binaural Processing, Temporal Processing, Spatial Processing, Listening to noise, Auditory Memory, Organisation, and Integration.

My son (2 years) was not communicating and did not stop screaming. We came down from Karratha for an Autism Assessment and on the last day of testing (and the last day of our stay) the speech therapist asked for a hearing test to rule out hearing loss before giving the formal autism diagnosis.
